The first place I am trying out is Mighty Fine Burger in Sunset Valley. Now I have been eating-in a lot to save money on this big move of mine, so I think I’ll honestly be impressed with anything that doesn’t come out of a can or from the microwave.
And boy was I! First thing you see are picnic tables that line the restaurant. Now, I went in at 9:00pm on a Saturday so it was pretty empty, but I imagine it gets pretty packed.
I spied the menu and Allyson asked me what I was looking to get. So, I got a 1/2 lb burger with cheese. She then asked me if I wanted red, white, or yellow and I said I wanted them all (ketchup, mustard, and mayo)! Then on top of that I added all the veggies. She then convinced me to get fries, even though I’m not a big fry fan. She rang me up and asked me if I had any plans for this Saturday night, and I had to inform her that “this” was my Saturday night.
So I got my food and a fountain drink and found a spot among the plaid tables and dug in.
Wow! The burger was excellently prepared. Nice fresh bun, and so many veggies and condiments that I was oozing deliciousness onto my hand. It was gone in about 5 minutes.
I then proceeded onto the fries after grabbing a second drink. They weren’t my favorite, a little bit too crunchy and thin, but then again I don’t eat many fries that I do like.
In the end, I had a completely satisfactory meal. The bill came to $11.05 ($6.24 for the burger, $1.99 for the free-refill drink, and $1.99 for the crinkle fries).
I give this restaurant 8 out of 10. And I’ll definitely be back for the burgers, great service, and maybe even a SHAKE next time!
Where should I try next in the ATX?
So after moving to Austin, Texas all I have heard is that it has the best food in the world. Now, I’m no food expert (reference me with a can of Chef Boyardee), but ATX is not the first place I’d go for great food. Never-the-less, I’m plunging into the food abyss here in the capital of Texas…and possibly food?
Let the journey begin! Burgers, BBQ, Tex-Mex, and anything else this great city has to offer.
